Introducing new themes.

One of my favorite things about Mother Goose Time is the themes, it keeps things feeling fresh! I am always looking forward to looking through the new box and finding more about the months theme. They have all been great and so fun. We have obviously enjoyed some more than others, which also means that some are hardest to move on from.

On the day that we are introducing a new theme I usually spend the drive home from grandmas house talking about the new theme and explaining that we are done with the theme we had been working on (we homeschool in the afternoon after I get home from work). Sometimes Chloe is excited to move on and others it takes a couple of days ...Ocean Commotion for example was one that took us a while to get over and 2 new themes later she still sometimes refers to the new theme with Commotion at the end - Alphabet House Commotion. haha.

I have mentioned before how one of the activities that gets Chloe super engaged is the theme poster so that is tremendous in introducing the new theme. She spends a good amount of time looking through the "Magnifying glass" and looking for details to point out. We also play some of the songs of the new CD and dance around just to get ourselves hyped up over the theme.

I also take the time to introduce the new theme for our Experience God add-on. I read the new verse we will be learning for the month and the story. We start everything by praying that God will open up our ears and Hearts.

We end the first couple of days with reading books relating to that theme, I like to make it a point to go to the library and talk to Chloe about the theme and ask her to help me find books she thinks will apply to the theme. The posters and materials are so fun and colorful that it doesn't take a lot of effort on my part to get Chloe engaged and excited for the new material.
